Definition:
The DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO HEALTH EDUCATION AWARD is presented annually at the National Convention in recognition of an outstanding contribution to health education either by an individual or organization outside the health education profession. Zero (0) to three (3) such awards may be given annually.
Qualifications of Candidates:
- Previous recipients of awards may not be considered for re-nomination for the same award until ten (10) years have passed since the initial award.
- Deceased persons are not eligible for consideration for awards.
- Members of the Awards Committee and of the AAHE Board of Directors are not eligible to receive AAHE awards while they are serving in said roles.
- An individual or organization (system, corporation, association, agency, and others) outside the health education profession, making a significant contribution to health education in any form, i.e., media development, legislation, creative arts (such as writing, acting, research, etc.), and funding. The person or organization should have aided in the development and promotion of health education.
- Must have made national impact on the advancement of health education.
- A commercial organization may be nominated only for a unique contribution to the profession over and above their normal realm of activity.
